User Experience Designer
Design Thinking Facilitator
Photographer...and general Creative Badass
Robyn Harris
I am a Young South African Designer looking to devour my next creative challenge. My design journey has taken me from colouring books as a child, to being a professional creative.
Beginning as a photographer my journey has built on the visual medium of design and imagery to the more nuanced craft that is user experience design. Melding visuals and aesthetics with the subtlety of user psychology is the strange new world graphic designs find itself in. From conducting user interviews and quantitative research to the iterative process of wireframes and mock ups, the user research cycle passes through worlds of data, theory and information architecture. It is no longer enough to create a new product that product needs to hold up to the incredible scrutiny of its users. Intuitive designs, subtle psychological devices and a client centric mindset are what is required in today's fast paced world of digital development.
When I am not challenging the corporate world with innovation and disruptive design I am riding my motorcycle, watching far too much TV and, of course, honing my haphazard baking skills.
Recently I discovered a wad of duct tape that turned out to be my grandparents love letters. My grandmother was living in Kimberley and my grandfather was buying diamonds out of the jungles of Sierra Leone. Soon a story unfurled of a trans-African love affair complete with gossip, intrigue and even an attempted murder plot. The letters have all the makings of the next binge-worthy series.

BUT WHO IS SHE?

Make life a Ride
4 wheels is a commute, but 2 wheels is an adventure!
There is nothing quite like touring our stunning country on the back of a motorcycle. From the moment your rear tire leaves your driveway you feel the relaxation of a holiday adventure wash over you.
I have been lucky enough to ride some of South Africa's most beautiful roads.
My vegetable garden is a labour of love and commitment. Nobody will voice their displeasure faster than a testy herb in dry soil. My garden has set the stage for many a photoshoot. This little guy on the right had to be evicted for non-payment of rent. Apparently he is going to be a "Death's-head hawkmoth" when he grows up.
Sitting behind a desk all day staring at a screen can come at a price. I find I need to balance with a smidge of outdoor activity.
